went out of the house one night
right after we had a fight
she never left alone
but i had work to go
when i saw our bedroom window with the lights off
it felt like a stab in the gut
where was my love? where could she be?
the law wouldn't help and sleep wouldn't come
so i went around looking all night
just as dawn broke, with tears down my face
i found her body
curled up in the grass with the snails
she looked so at peace
but i couldn't help but think
someone did this to her
but at the end of the day
maybe it's better this way
because i can still hold my love
in my arms and in my heart
